ASBESTOS SURVEYS
Expert Asbestos Report Survey Services
If you are the owner of a building or business and you suspect there may be danger of asbestos exposure, the law states that you are liable and responsible. The best course of action is to hire a licensed asbestos survey company to come in to the building for an asbestos report survey.
These companies are made up of highly trained and skilled individuals who will come to your property and do the assessment survey for a fee. It is always recommended to have a survey done prior to any remodel and structural changes, or when there has been damage or dilapidation of any kind.
The asbestos report survey will be as extensive as requested and will include areas such as: the area above suspended ceilings, ceiling and floor tiles, boarded materials, pipe work insulation, cement based sheeting and anywhere asbestos may be hiding. These surveys will sometimes be as simple as a visual assessment. Other times, they will include a variety of sampling if asbestos is suspected to be present but not visible.
Expert surveyors will wear the appropriate protective gear and will protect the occupants and materials in the rest of the building. If they need to take samples to be tested, the samples should be securely wrapped in polythene plastic before taken to a registered asbestos testing site.
If the samples prove to be positive for asbestos, a risk assessment will be given. The surveyor will recommend a course of action, depending on what and how much asbestos was found. If necessary, a removal strategy will also be included in the asbestos report survey.
In some instances the surveyor will recommend a company that provides an asbestos removal services or they will request to do the job themselves. In the case of recommended removal, follow the suggestions of the survey. The asbestos needs to be removed in the safest manner possible, following the assigned regulations.
The contractor will secure the area, covering everything with heavy plastic. The infected material will be wet down to avoid the loosening of asbestos fibres into the air. The asbestos will be removed, properly packaged and labeled and then taken to a certified waste site. Or, if recommended, the asbestos can be encapsulated with a coat of seal.
The area will need to be thoroughly cleansed after the asbestos removal, which should be a part of the service and included in the charge. To make sure, refer to the asbestos report survey.
